Turquoise & Spiny Oyster Sterling Silver Beaded Necklace

This handcrafted Southwest-style necklace combines two beautiful natural stones—bright blue Blue Gem Mine Turquoise and warm orange Spiny Oyster—set in a substantial sterling silver pendant.

I designed the pendant with an assortment of hand-stamped details, including spirals and small geometric marks scattered across the silver. A raised sterling silver spiral and the dimensional fan-shaped element at the top add even more texture to the design. The turquoise is surrounded by a beaded silver border, while the contrasting orange Spiny Oyster is set in a simple bezel that lets the color and natural pattern of the stone stand out.

The sterling silver has a soft satin finish, with oxidized details that emphasize the stamping and texture.

Instead of a traditional silver chain, the pendant hangs from a 27-inch strand of natural turquoise beads in varied organic shapes. The longer length allows the pendant to sit lower on the chest and makes the turquoise beads an important part of the overall design rather than simply a way to suspend the pendant.

The back of the pendant is stamped with .935 silver and my maker's mark.
