Meet the Artist
Creativity has shaped my life for as long as I can remember. From watercolor and oil painting to graphic design and, ultimately, handcrafted jewelry, every step along the way deepened my appreciation for thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and the joy of creating something new.
My creative path eventually led me into graphic design, where I spent nearly 15 years helping clients bring their ideas to life through digital media. That experience strengthened my eye for detail, balance, and design—skills that continue to influence every piece of jewelry I create today.
Over the years, I explored many artistic mediums, but it was handcrafted jewelry that truly captured my heart. My journey into metalsmithing began the moment I watched raw metal transform under heat and flame. Seeing a hard, rigid piece of metal become soft and malleable—and then shaping it into something beautiful and lasting—felt almost magical. I was hooked. What began with that first flame at my jeweler's bench has grown into a lifelong passion.
Today, I work primarily with sterling silver, occasional gold accents, and carefully selected natural gemstones. Combining artistry with craftsmanship, I create contemporary artisan jewelry designed to be both beautiful and timeless.
Working from my Arizona studio, I draw inspiration from the natural beauty of the Southwest, exceptional gemstones, interesting textures, and, most of all, the excitement of exploring new ideas. Rather than following a single style, I let each gemstone and every new idea inspire its own unique design.
Every piece begins with curiosity. I design the jewelry I love to wear. Each piece is handcrafted from start to finish, ensuring that no two are ever exactly alike. My hope is that every design becomes more than jewelry—it becomes something you'll enjoy wearing and treasure for years to come.
Why LaJeanne?
The name LaJeanne comes from my first and middle names, Laurie and Jeanne. It felt like the perfect name for a studio where every piece begins at my jeweler's bench and is handcrafted by me in Arizona.
