Azurite-Malachite & Turquoise Sterling Silver Necklace

A striking combination of turquoise and Azurite-Malachite gives this one-of-a-kind necklace its distinctive color and contemporary Southwestern character.

The focal point is a beautiful tapered Azurite-Malachite stone with deep blue, turquoise, and green patterning. I hand-selected the stone for its unusual color and natural markings, then paired it with a small oval turquoise cabochon above. The two stones create a wonderful contrast while tying the design together.

The pendant is handcrafted in solid sterling silver with a textured surface and raised silver details surrounding the turquoise. An oxidized finish settles into the texture and recessed areas, bringing out the patterns while leaving the raised silver brighter for contrast.

I also handcrafted the sterling silver chain using elongated links joined with smaller rings and wrapped-wire details. Its substantial, open-link design becomes part of the necklace rather than simply supporting the pendant.

The 24-inch chain allows the pendant to fall lower on the chest, making this an especially nice necklace for wearing over a sweater, blouse, or higher neckline.
