The pendant on this necklace has a pair of Australian Boulder Opals. The feature stone is the one on top. This opal has a lot of green/blue flash, even a bit of red. Truly a beautiful stone. It was hard for me to photograph the best color of the stone inside, with my lightening, so I took it outdoors to show it in the sun. You can see that in the photo with my hand. All opals have their best side and I rotated this one to pick the best placement, for the best flash, it in this pendant. The border around these stones has been accented with textured 18K gold.
The back has also been textured and stamped with the .935 sterling silver hallmark and maker's mark.
Pendant measures 2-3/8 high x 1-1/4 inches wide, including the round bail wire at the top.
The rolo chain measures 17-inches, plus the hanging pendant. When I make the chain, I try on each piece and check the positioning. Each pendant is a different size, so I usually make my chains a bit shorter than the average 18 inches so that it doesn't disappear under the clothes.
