This necklace has a striking Marra Mamba cabochon. The Marra Mamba is a cousin to the Tiger Eye stones. I have paired the yellow color of the stone with 23.5K gold, done with the Keum Boo method of fusing gold foil to silver. The diagonal stripe in the stone is a very dark brown.
The silver has been textured and oxidized (blackened) to bring out the design. The back has also been textured and stamped with the .935 sterling silver hallmark and maker's mark.
Pendant measures 2-1/8 wide x 1-7/8-inches high.
The chain measures 17-inches, plus the hanging pendant. When I make the chain, I try on each piece and check the positioning. Each pendant is a different size, so I usually make my chains a bit shorter than the average 18 inches so that it doesn't disappear under the clothes. |
